Never a Bridesmaid, Only a Bride

I'm a bit backwards from most people. I'm a married woman, for nearly 2 years now, who has yet to be a bridesmaid. We had only 1 friend-couple who were married before us (we got engaged at their wedding, actually.)
I don't currently, nor have in recent years, have very close girlfriends. I wouldn't say I had to scrounge for bridesmaids, though. My hubby was in ROTC in college, and went to college with a number of high school friends so he had a huge panal to choose from for his side of our wedding party. I had quite a few girlfriends, and I was happy to have each girl who was in my wedding. (The picture is me, on the far right, with my bridesmaids, at my bachelorette party.) We all have a great history and we had a great time. I've just, kinda drifted. I guess it's the moving. I'm not as tight with anyone anymore. One of my bridesmaids was married last year, as was 1 of my hubby's groomsmen. I have 2 more bridesmaids getting married this spring...and still no bridesmaid dresses hang in my closet. I'm kinda the opposite of Katherine Heigl, I guess. It makes me feel a little sad, a little lonely and left out. I've always really loved my friends, even if we aren't super tight, and I wanna help! My hubby was a groomsman in his buddy's wedding last year and had 2 more guys to stand up for this spring. Ooo, isn't he just everyone's best friend...

Well, I'm finally going to get my chance! My brother-in-law (My hubby's only sibling) proposed to his very long-time girlfriend on Christmas Eve. (they've been together longer than me and my hubby) Even if we aren't best friends, we have known each other for a long time and now, we're family. She doesn't have any sisters, so the closest she's ever going to have is me! They are getting married in November and my hubby is going to be the best man, of course, and even though I'm not gonna be top dog--and I wouldn't expect to be--she has asked me to be 1 of her 3 attendants. She was in our wedding, as a bridesmaid, so now we have the both weddings, family connection.

I had so much fun planning my wedding, and I have so little going on, I really want to do stuff for her wedding now. I love craft projects and I want to make centerpieces and shop for dresses. I'm trying to be patient and stay in the back seat. But I am excited!

I know exactly how you feel! My friend is getting married in October 2009 and asked me to be her bridesmaid, and I might even be her maid of honor. By then Caleb and I will be married for 4 years and will probably have our 2 children. I've waited a long time too, and your exact post title is what I was going to put down when I blogged about being a bridesmaid! Great minds think alike!

Congratulations! The first time I was a bridesmaid, I was 12. I was in my sister's wedding. Then, I was a bridesmaid was due to no one else being able to be in a friend's wedding. I was sort of a "consolation" bridesmaid! :o)
I guess I was a bridesmaid in my sister-in-law's wedding, too. So, three times...and I certainly can't wear any of the dresses!

Have fun!

I suck as a friend. Wow. I thought I had you in my reader, turns out...not so much.

Dude, that's exciting! I've only been in my sister's wedding, so I feel you on this :)
